Highjinx Ottawa
Highjinx is a social enterprise and community hub located at 290 Kent Street, Ottawa, Ontario. Established in 2011, it operates as a vintage and antique shop offering a diverse selection of donated furniture, housewares, and curiosities. The proceeds from sales are directly reinvested into the community to support vulnerable individuals.
Community Services:
Food Pantry: Highjinx maintains a Community Food Pantry stocked with donations from farms, restaurants, community groups, and individuals. Neighbors in need can access this pantry daily.
Community Garden: The backyard features a community garden that provides fresh produce and serves as a welcoming space for gatherings.
Furniture Bank: Donated furniture and household items are redistributed to individuals and families transitioning out of homelessness or facing financial hardships.

Highjinx takes donations of things for our Community Furniture Bank that Neighbours can freely access to get the housewares they need to make their house a Home. Large furniture donations take a bit of pre-planning so get in touch with them regarding those as they prefer to donate directly to those in need avoiding costly storage and transportation costs.
Being that they do not take Government funding, only relying on donated items to pay the rent. Cleaning out your house can really help too !
